Earlier this week, we celebrated National Prosecco Day. I can’t lie; I'm not a huge Prosecco fan. Me enjoying Prosecco leads to a day of lethargy. I don’t know why it’s different from any other beverage, but this magical elixir has the ability to take me to a place of relaxation where I will accomplish nothing the rest of the day.
I can day-drink some beers with a friend, or even enjoy a couple of glasses of wine, and still make use of the second half of my day. But when I enter the world of Prosecco... it’s like I’m entering a portal of blissful unproductivity. You know what happens next: nothing else gets done.
But NOW, tomorrow, we celebrate National Rum Day. NATIONAL RUM DAY, y’all! And, unlike Prosecco, rum has a whole different vibe. I feel like National Rum Day is Prosecco’s energetic cousin, ready to swoop in and turn things up a notch.
Who can have just one rum drink? Is that even possible?
There’s something about rum that just screams celebration. It’s warm, spicy, and sweet – all at once. Whether it’s a refreshing mojito on a summer day, a creamy piña colada by the beach, or a simple rum punch that takes you back to island life, rum always seems to bring the party.
Rum has a fascinating history too. Originating in the Caribbean, this sugarcane-based spirit has been enjoyed by sailors, pirates, and royalty alike. It was even used as currency at one point! The process of rum-making varies from place to place, which gives us a variety of styles – from the smooth and light flavors of white rum to the rich, deep notes of dark rum and the spiced warmth of golden rum.
One of the reasons people rate rum so highly is because of its versatility. It can be sipped neat, mixed into cocktails, or even used as a cooking ingredient to elevate dishes. With so many different varieties and ways to enjoy it, rum has solidified its place as one of the world’s most beloved spirits.
Now, here’s the really good news. Eggie Lope's is fully ready to support your National Rum Day celebrations with our delicious Peach Rum Sauce! This sauce is the ultimate way to punch up a spritzer, soak a delicious pound cake, or top off your favorite ice cream. It can even start your day with a little rum-infused twist—drizzle it over your yogurt or oatmeal.
Let’s be honest, your mom was a liar when she said you can’t have rum for breakfast!
So, this National Rum Day (August 16th, 2024), raise your glass (or spoon) and enjoy the delightful sweetness of rum in every way imaginable. Cheers! 🍹
Love & Light
p.s. Peach Rum Sauce will be available at the Botetourt County Farmers Market Honeyfest on Saturday, August 17th.
